Power of Three: written and visual guide

If you’re among our readers who have just finished The New Prophecy, no doubt you’re still reeling from the bloody end to Hawkfrost’s quest for power. But though the Clans got to enjoy several moons of the promised peace that came after blood had spilled blood, no peace can last forever, and now it’s time for the newest generation to have their turn at making their mark on the Clans. To help all our readers get a good start on the third series of Warriors, we’ve put together this rundown of the most important characters in Power of Three. Enjoy!
Jaypaw
The small, blind son of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw has always been seen as helpless by the cats around him. Next to his burly brother and sly sister, how could this scrawny, sightless tom ever stand out? But a prophecy delivered to his grandfather Firestar―“There will be three, kin of your kin, who will hold the power of the stars in their paws”―that Jaypaw overhears will alter the course of his life forever. With the promise of untold potential whispering in his ears, and the ability to walk where few cats have ever trod, this young cat may prove to be the most powerful of them all. Will he rise above the expectations of his family and his Clan and prove to be a match for even the likes of StarClan? Or will the doubts of those around him drown out his desperate attempts to be seen as more than what they think of him?

Hollypaw
Quick, clever, and fiercely loyal, this daughter of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw sees the warrior code as the heart of every decision a Clan cat will ever make. To her, the code is the standard to which all cats must hold themselves, and what every true warrior should be willing to lay their lives on the line to defend. Hollypaw’s dream is to be the most dedicated cat she can be for her Clan, but such loyalty is never as simple as it first seems, and while she starts her paws on the path of a medicine cat, the places her journey will take her are ones she never could have foreseen at the start. Will this clever she-cat find a way to fulfill her starry destiny and make her Clan proud? Or will her insistence on loyalty to the code above all else lead to some dark and unexpected consequences?

Lionpaw
This young son of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw has all the strength, courage, and eagerness to prove himself that you could ever hope to find in an apprentice. He has the courage to face any foe who would harm his Clan, and the strength to protect the cats who matter the most to him. But with an apprentice from an enemy Clan whispering of friendship beyond borders in one ear, dark spirits of the past whispering of untapped strength in the other, and the raw power of the stars brimming in his paws, this young tom has quite the struggle ahead of him to decide which path to walk. Will his desire to use his powers and destiny for the good of his Clan win out? Or will the violent urges of an uncontrollable force destroy everything he holds dear?

Breezepaw
The son of WindClan warriors Nightcloud and Crowfeather was never going to be the most sociable cat in the world. With a mother desperate to please her son, a father who seems almost desperate to ignore him, and a hushed-up legacy of deceit and betrayal passed down from his father, this young tom has grown up surrounded by whispered rumors and judgment his entire life. He may not know the full story of his father’s deeds, but perceived treatment from his Clanmates and family has molded this apprentice into an angry, resentful young tom. But no one’s fate is set at so young an age, not even for a tom as bitter as this one. Will Breezepaw rise above his father’s reputation and his own anger to become a loyal WindClan warrior? Or will the lies and secrets of the past, and his own building resentment, turn him into something even darker?

Heatherpaw
This friendly WindClan apprentice doesn’t have the same regard for strict borders and unyielding loyalty as some of her Clanmates. But of all of her Clanmates, it may be her mentor Crowfeather’s pawsteps that she’ll follow the most closely. By pursuing a simple desire for friendship, this bold young she-cat might face even steeper consequences than she ever foresaw when a friendly face from across the border takes her beyond the safety of her own Clan. Will her friendship with an enemy apprentice survive the demands of Clan loyalty and the dangers of the outer world? Or will she, like her mentor before her, have to watch a strong bond fade away to bitter resentment because of the borders that lie between them?
Sol
This mysterious loner seems to have appeared from nowhere with an unusual knowledge of the Clans and their customs―and an even more unusual disregard for the power of the Clan’s starry ancestors. When the tom’s strange warning about the sun going out seems to come true, many seem willing to turn to this powerful loner for answers about the way forward. But Sol’s motives may not be as simple as they seem, and while knowledge is power, it doesn’t always indicate wisdom . . . or truth. Will Sol’s mysterious knowledge help lead the Clans―and especially the Three―forward on the path that their destinies have laid out for them? Or will the smooth words and silky voice of this clever tom only lead the Clans into further darkness?
Rock
Hailing from a time well before the Clans or any of their ancestors, this hairless, bent, and twisted creature that dwells in the tunnels below the lake is a remnant of an age long past. Though the times and the cats he once knew have since faded into obscurity, Rock has remained, and his power to see what lies ahead and his guidance in regards to the prophecy of the Three makes him a valuable source of information for the few who can sense his presence. But while undoubtedly powerful with the knowledge that he holds, what little he shares with the living is often vague, and his motives―like the origins and ultimate design of the prophecy―remain shrouded in mystery. Will this ancient being’s guidance bring the Three closer to fulfilling their destiny? Or will he only lead those who follow his words into a web of darkness and death as convoluted as the tunnels he calls home?
Fallen Leaves
When he was alive, in a time long since forgotten, this eager young tom was at the end of his training to be an ancient equivalent to a warrior. But when the test meant to prove he was a grown cat worthy of respect claimed his life instead, his spirit was left to wander the darkness of the tunnels beneath the lake for countless seasons. Even death, however, wasn’t enough to end his story, and as the prophecy of the Three unfolds, his past, and the time that he lived in, might offer the answers the Three need to finally fulfill their destiny. Will this restless spirit ever find peace among the souls of his lost family? Or will he be doomed to wander alone in darkness forever?
