Frequently Asked Questions
Back

WHO IS THE EDITOR OF THIS WEBSITE?

The site is run by a team of people at Working Partners, a Coolabi company. If you want to get in touch or send suggestions please use the Contact Us form on this website, and one of the team will try to respond if you have a query that is not covered by these FAQs and needs a reply. We do get a large volume of messages so unfortunately it’s not possible to reply to every single message.

WILL THE SITE BE UPDATED?

Yes, the site will be updated regularly. If we see any mistakes (such a few that were spotted at launch on the Family Tree) we will update these, and we will promote new books, new merchandise, share any news, publish new articles from the Erins, feature fan content, and add new quizzes and polls frequently.

WHY ARE YOU USING FANART AND OTHER FAN CONTENT ON THE SITE?

We want to celebrate the amazing fan made creations, so the editorial team regularly select fan content to feature on the site and on social media. Neither Working Partners (the company who run this site) or any of the book publishers make or intend to make any revenue from the fan content, and we will credit the artist/creator/writer.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY FANART / VIDEOS?

If you’d like us to consider featuring your art or videos please send your content to fanart@warriorcats.com. However, if you are the artist and you’d prefer we didn’t feature it, simply Contact Us using the form, and we will take it down.

Please note that unlike YouTube, we cannot feature videos that use music that is copyrighted. We cannot embed or link to YouTube videos as younger fans may be on this website and at this current time YouTube’s terms state that it’s service is not suitable for under 13s.

Please note that we do not upload all the artwork that we are sent. We may keep the art you send in reserve for the next gallery or article that bests suits it.

HOW DO ART CHALLENGES WORK?

Sometimes we run challenges, and invite fans to submit art of a particular theme. To submit art for a challenge, send your entry to fanart@warriorcats.com. Challenge winners are picked by our editorial team.

WHY ARE ONLY SOME CATS FEATURED AND LINKED TO FROM THE FAMILY TREE?

At the moment, only cats who have featured heavily in the books have been given pages of their own. More cats may be given their own pages at a later time.

HOW DO I SHARE CONTENT?

Clicking on the link button in the lower right corner of a promotional image will copy the URL for that content for the user to paste anywhere. There is no way to choose social networks to share directly to, as many of them may not be suitable for younger fans.

WHY ARE THERE NO EXTERNAL LINKS AND NO FORUMS?

We want the Warriors website to be a safe place for our fans to enjoy all kinds of content. For the safety of our younger fans, we have decided against allowing unmoderated commenting on the site. There are still plenty of places online for open discussion, but this website will remain without comments or a forum.

CAN I SEND IN MY IDEAS FOR FUTURE WARRIORS BOOKS AND STORYLINES?

We only use ideas generated in-house by the Erin Hunter team of authors and we retain the copyright in all the books we produce, so for this reason we are unable to take on board any plot ideas or manuscripts sent in by anyone else. Any similarity in anything we may release in the future will be entirely incidental.

CAN I CREATE MY OWN WARRIOR CATS CONTENT (e.g. ART AND ANIMATION) AND SHARE IT ONLINE?

We love the creative skills of the Warrior Cats community and we actively encourage and celebrate the creation and sharing of fan content across many digital platforms (for those over 13).

At the same time, we are working hard to allow Warrior Cats to be enjoyed by fans in many different and exciting ways and this sometimes means we have to be careful not to allow anything that may affect our ability to do so.

As such we reserve the right to request that you stop sharing your content, or to approach platforms directly to have it removed, if we consider that it oversteps into copyright or trademark infringement. Examples of where we may exercise such a right might include attempts to animate entire books or series, whether in whole or in part (if put together sequentially) and may include projects that claim to be ‘based on’ or ‘inspired by’ a book or series if they remain too close to the original work.

CAN I MAKE MONEY FROM THE CONTENT I HAVE CREATED?

Yes, providing you do not use the “Warrior Cats” name, our official artwork or any other official branding, such as logos and clan icons, as this could constitute copyright and / or trademark infringement.

I BELIEVE I HAVE FOLLOWED YOUR GUIDANCE ON ARTWORK BUT HAVE BEEN ASKED TO REMOVE IT FROM SALE - WHAT CAN I DO?

CAN YOU INCLUDE MY CAT AS A CHARACTER IN THE NEXT BOOK?

We only use ideas generated in-house by the Erin Hunter team of authors and we retain the copyright in all the books we produce, so for this reason we are unable to take on board any plot ideas or manuscripts sent in by anyone else. Any similarity in anything we may release in the future will be entirely incidental.
