If you’re new to the series, the large cast list might be intimidating. How will you ever remember all those names or who each character is? Not to worry! To help you get to know our furry cast of felines, we’ve put together this rundown of the most important characters in the first series of Warriors, The Prophecies Begin. Enjoy!
Rusty/Firepaw
This curious little house cat with dreams of a life beyond his fence serves as our eyes and ears into the world of the warrior Clans. He achieves his dream of finding a life as a wild cat, but even from the beginning, things aren’t going to be easy for our little fiery tom. Clan cats are prejudiced against house cats―which they call “kittypets”―and there are some who seem determined to make young Rusty feel as unwelcome as possible. But with a mysterious prophecy revolving around fire, and a deputy he doesn’t trust, the newly named Firepaw may have worse problems on his paws than a couple of taunts thrown his way. Can he figure out the secrets and dangers threatening his Clan before it’s too late?

Graypaw
During Rusty’s first visit to the forest, he is attacked by a young Clan cat. When Rusty refuses to run, however, the wild cat praises his courage and introduces himself as Graypaw. From then on, Firepaw and Graypaw become the very best of friends. Graypaw is fun-loving and goofy, and isn’t afraid to make a fool of himself to make his friends laugh. But there’s more to this funny tom than his jokes, and as the series goes on, his loyalty―and his friendship with Firepaw―gets tested in unexpected ways. Will he prove true to Firepaw and to ThunderClan, or will his heart pull him another way?

Ravenpaw
This skittish young tom is the apprentice of the intimidating Tigerclaw, but he seems to take no pride in having one of the strongest warriors in ThunderClan as his mentor. In fact, he seems almost frightened of the older tom. As one of the only witnesses to the mysterious death of deputy Redtail, Ravenpaw harbors a terrible secret and seems to grow more and more terrified every day. Will Firepaw and Graypaw be able to help their friend before his secret grows too dangerous to keep?
Bluestar
The noble leader of ThunderClan, Bluestar is the one who welcomes Firepaw into her Clan and trains him to be a warrior. She is the only other cat besides Spottedleaf and Firepaw who knows about the prophecy. Though she leads her Clan as wisely and fairly as she can, she has secrets of her own and is perhaps a little too trusting when it comes to certain cats. Will Firepaw be able to warn her of the danger facing her Clan before it’s too late? And will her Clan―and Bluestar herself―be able to handle certain truths coming to light?

Tigerclaw
This impressive tom is by far one of the strongest, bravest, and most determined warriors in ThunderClan. But even from the start, Firepaw is suspicious of the imposing warrior. Ravenpaw’s terror of his mentor, and unanswered questions surrounding the death of the former deputy, pit Firepaw against Tigerclaw from almost the moment they meet. Will Firepaw’s suspicions about Tigerclaw prove to be justified? And if so, what havoc might such a dark-hearted warrior wreak on the forest?

Yellowfang
This cantankerous former medicine cat left ShadowClan under mysterious circumstances, then became ThunderClan’s prisoner after losing a battle with Firepaw. He can’t help but become fond of the cranky old she-cat, but dark rumors surround her departure from ShadowClan, and most of ThunderClan doesn’t trust her. Will Firepaw’s faith in Yellowfang be rewarded? Or are all the horrible things that ShadowClan whispers about her really true? And even if they aren’t, what other dark secrets might she be hiding?
Brokenstar
ShadowClan’s new leader starts his reign by pushing aggressively for hunting rights in other Clans’ territories. After WindClan and RiverClan fail to stop his rampage across the forest, it is left to ThunderClan, and to Firepaw, to stand up to the ambitious tom and his army of warriors. Will they be up to the task? Or will Brokenstar’s greed consume the forest? And will the unsolved death of his father, Raggedstar, and the mysterious identity of his mother, ever come to light?
Spottedleaf
ThunderClan’s beautiful young medicine cat is the one to receive StarClan’s prophecy: Fire alone will save our Clan. She is the one who tells Firepaw the words of the prophecy, and who does her best to guide his paws and help him become the warrior he dreams of being, earning the young tom’s admiration. Will Firepaw’s affection for the medicine cat ever blossom into anything more? And will Spottedleaf’s hopes for her Clan’s future, and this former kittypet’s part in it, come to fruition? Or is a darker fate awaiting her?
