Forced to retire from warrior life early due to asthma, Nightpelt itched for a way to prove himself to a Clan that seemed to dismiss him for his perceived shortcomings. When the elders were forced into exile, Nightpelt protected them with the ferocity of a father, and when Brokenstar became too cruel a leader to tolerate, he helped lead the charge against his own leader. Nightpelt’s Clanmates chose him to lead them once Brokenstar was driven away. But will Nightstar truly be able to rise and become the leader his Clan needs? Or does something even darker await his Clan?
Clan: StarClan
Crookedstar
By the time Firepaw entered the forest, Crookedstar was an established and respected leader, willing to lend a paw to a Clan in need, but loyal first and foremost to the needs of his own Clan. But Crookedstar’s life was not always so untroubled – as a kit, he broke his jaw falling onto a rock in the river, and from that day on, he had to contend with both promises of a grand destiny and the doubts and opposition of those around him – and vengeance sworn long before he was born threatened to drag him into darkness.
Bluestar
Bluestar is the noble leader of ThunderClan who must find the strength to hold her Clan together even as it nears the brink of destruction. Haunted by her past, Bluestar is forced to face secrets long kept hidden and reveal that things may not always be as they appear.
Stonefur
In Fireheart’s early days in the forest, Stonefur was known as one of the strongest warriors in the Clans. The ceaseless loyalty and determination he served his Clan with not only earned his reputation of strength among the Clans, but impressed Leopardstar enough to make him her deputy. Few would ever have guessed that this loyal warrior’s past held a secret steeped in deception and shame. When the long-hidden truth that even Stonefur didn’t know comes to light, will this noble warrior have the strength to overcome the dangers this secret carries with it?
Whitestorm
The son of the vicious and grasping warrior Thistleclaw and Bluefur’s beloved sister Snowfur, Whitestorm lost his mother at a young age and came to view Bluestar as almost a second mother due to their closeness after Snowfur’s death. He grew to possess all of the wisdom, patience, and kindness that his father lacked, showing a natural thoughtfulness and deep sense of compassion and loyalty, especially to the leader who had helped raise him. Fireheart grew to respect this noble old tom above all others and often turned to him for advice.
Skywatcher
Sky is the last surviving descendant of the shattered SkyClan that still honors the ways of the old Clan. He wanders alone, mocked and shunned by the cats around him for his strange ways and his devotion to long-dead cats. It seemed this noble, despairing old cat, a lifelong warrior with no Clan to honor and shelter him, would die alone without ever having known a true Clan life – until a leader from far away arrived and suddenly turned his faintest dreams into something that could become real.
Feathertail
The daughter of a ThunderClan tom and a RiverClan she-cat, this halfClan warrior knows all too well the heartache of betrayal and loss. Feathertail nearly died at the claws of the tyrant Tigerstar when she was only an apprentice while her Clanmates looked on – since then, she finds it hard to forgive the betrayal from her Clan and let the past go. But when a prophecy calls her paws to distant shores, Feathertail is faced with an even graver choice. Will she open her heart again and learn to look past the anger of others? Or will she let her loss and distrust isolate her even further? And what will a strange prophecy from ancestors she’s never met mean for her destiny?
Tallstar
When Fireheart first met Tallstar, he was at one of the lowest points of his leadership, having been forced to abandon his moorland territory and lead his Clan to live like rats in a twoleg tunnel beneath a thunderpath. Tallstar’s willingness to back down from a fight if it kept his Clanmates safe is what some cats would call weakness, but Tallstar knows better than most the cost of needless bloodshed, and will seek peace whenever he can. This wise, noble leader will make whatever choice he believes will ensure the safety of his Clan – but not every choice leads to the peace he might hope for…
Mudclaw
To nonClanmates like Fireheart, this WindClan tom has always seemed unusually aggressive and hostile, always ready to unsheathe his claws against any perceived threat to his Clan. But that aggression comes from a deep loyalty to his Clan, and a desire to protect the ones he cares for. Will that loyalty to his Clanmates see him true in the end? Or will his aggression and ambition take him down a darker path?
Runningnose
When Runningnose first asked to become Yellowfang’s apprentice, he could never have anticipated all of the suffering he would endure because of his decision to become a medicine cat. After Yellowfang was exiled for supposedly killing her mother’s young kits, Runningnose was forced to watch an endless stream of kits die of battle wounds they should never have earned and serve a leader he could never challenge because it would leave his Clanmates without a healer. He must have hoped his Clan’s troubles were over when Brokenstar was finally driven out. But he would soon come to learn that Brokenstar’s reign had only been the beginning. that there was more suffering to come, more terrible secrets to keep, and a terrible price to pay for his Clan’s bright new dawn.
