Who are the cats on Dawn of the Clans book covers?

BY THE EDITOR

The Warriors book covers feature some gorgeous art – but which cats are featured on which covers? Just check out our handy guide below to find out which characters appear on the covers of the six books of Dawn of the Clans!

The Sun Trail – Gray Wing

A brand new, and yet unfathombly ancient at the same time, era for Warriors readers begins with The Sun Trail, as young mountain hunter Gray Wing looks out into a new future in a new home far from the peaks. The lovely pink-and-purple light of the titular sun trail shines on the mountain peaks, with a single plant beside Gray Wing bringing a splash of green to the page and offer hope of new growth and abundance in their new home.

Thunder Rising – Thunder

In contrast with the gentle dawn lighting of the last cover, Thunder Rising brings a shock of fiery red to the new arc, as young moorland tom Thunder looks on as his father’s forest burns around him. The vibrant reds and oranges against a purple sky, and Thunder’s own fiery coat blending in with the blazing destruction around him, fits perfectly for a book that serves both as the turning point for the start of a young tom’s journey to discover who he is and where he belongs, and the grumbling sparks of conflict between the moorland and forest groups from the last book beginning to be fanned into true flames of war.

The First Battle – Tall Shadow

The fiery, explosive cover of Thunder Rising is followed by the far more subdued hues of The First Battle, feautring leader of the moorland cats Tall Shadow. This formidable leader’s piercing glare looks out at the reader as the edges of her dark fur are turned to silver by the light of a full moon. The full moon shining down into that hollow will one day signify a time of peace, but for now, as Tall Shadow’s foreboding stare and the lovely dark blue hues hint, it only signifies doom.

The Blazing Star – Star Flower

The beautiful, lush green landscape of the cover of The Blazing Star seems to hint that better times are coming for the Clans now tht the first battle is over, but the narrowed glare of the loner Star Flower, and the ominous red lighting on her pelt hint at a coming doom. The titular Blazing Star flower brings a lovely splash of yellow to the cover, complimenting Star Flower’s own golden pelt.

A Forest Divided – Clear Sky

You can feel the biting cold through the icy blues and weak pinkish light of the cover of A Forest Divided, as forest leader Clear Sky stalks through the thick snow with a determined expression. The harsh leafbare that sees the former mountain cats more divided than ever is perfectly portrayed here.

Path of Stars – Wind Runner

Path of Stars finishes the Dawn of the Clans covers with a gorgeous shot of WindClan founder Wind Runner with her silhouette lit to a blazing silver by the light of the rising moon, the sparkle of starlight all around her amd the deep blue and purple hues of the sky adding to the cover’s beauty. The era of the Clans has at last truly begun, and this leader of the brand-new WindClan looks forward into a new future for her cats on the moorland, generation upon generation.
